Adventures Into the Night Sky Traveling Planetarium
(EITC funded)
ASD students have benefited from the use of the Adventures Into the Night Sky Traveling Planetarium over the past several years thanks to EITC funds and donations. With so much to explore in the massive night sky, the planetarium offers endless opportunities for the students to explore the night skies which include looking in depth at the planets, starfield, and constellations while they are at school! And because it is an inflatable structure, the planetarium has been brought out again and again as a learning tool at many of our schools.
We love seeing the ASDF's planetarium being used and we are so grateful that we are able to help give this experience to our students!
It's always a fun way to learn about the planets, stars and constellations
“The planetarium spent two weeks at Shannock Elementary. Our teachers stayed after school to learn about the it, and the students visited over the course of two weeks to learn about planets, stars and constellations. This was such an amazing opportunity for our students. Thank you Mrs. Lasslo for organizing this activity, and thank you to Miss Gamble for sharing the gym.”- Shelby Moore, Teacher at SVE
Out in the community
"On July 1st, a former AHS student and Science Club President Alyza Smith ran the blow-up planetarium at the new BC3 campus located in Ford City.
Here, Alyza preformed our typical show, which includes information on our solar system, constellations (especially the Zodiac signs), and some information on the Milky Way galaxy.
This was done using the included projector slides that are included in each topic.
We saw mostly young children along with their families come to see the planetarium show. I believe we had roughly 50 people come!"- Lucas Waldrop, ASD employee
Thank you so much to BC3 for hosting us! And thank you to Lucas and Alyza for sharing the Planetarium with others!
